Elyse Defoor is a renowned international artist based in Atlanta. The expansive body of her work includes drawings and paintings as well as photography and large-scale installations.

In 2008, her series “X.U.ME” was presented as a solo exhibition at the Alexandria Museum of Art in Louisiana. This body of work began as a visual response to having seen the Xs scrawled across the New Orleans landscape, and marked an ongoing quest in the exploration of X.

From playful to bold and mysterious, Elyse’s thematic work conveys a unique connection to the inner spirit. It is her belief that art is meant to bridge the conscious with the unconscious world.

A Hambidge Fellow, Elyse received her BFA from the University of Georgia in 1973 with post graduate work at the Atlanta College of Art in the mid-eighties. Elyse has had solo exhibits and participated in group shows throughout the Southeast and in New York City. Elyse Defoor’s original art, commissions and archival reproductions can be found in numerous corporate and private collections in the United States, Asia and Europe.
