Keith Donovan was born in Edmonton, Canada, studied at the Vancouver School of Art, and currently lives and works in a small village in central France. After collaborating with the Western Front in Vancouver he moved to Geneva in 1982 on a residency grant from the Musee D’Art et D’Histoire. In Geneva he did post-grad work at the Ecole Superieure des Arts Visuels.

Other residencies include International Center for Artistic Experimentation in Boissano, Italy (1985), Banff Center for the Arts, Canada, (1990), Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris (1996-98) and URDLA Centre Internationale de l’Estampe, Lyon, (2004 and 2006).

His single shows include Ruine, Geneva (1987), the Palais d’Athenee in Geneva (1989) two with Paul Kasmin in New York, (1991-92), Bob Van Orsouw gallery in Zurich (1991), Mayers Aebel & McHale in Paris (2003) and two with Michel Foex, in Geneva, (1999, 2005). Group exhibitions include the Vancouver Art Gallery (1983), Mars Gallery in Tokyo (1992), Curt Marcus Gallery in New York (1996), the Musee d’Art Moderne et Contemporaine in Geneva (1996) and Factor 44, Antwerp (2000). Public collections include Vancouver Art Gallery, MAMCO in Geneva, Fond des Decorations Genevoises in Geneva, Fundacio Cultural Televisa in Mexico City, and the Thomas Amman Foundation in Zurich.
